Food Fashion Fun Frivolity

I've been thinking about using this blog to just write stuff down that I wouldnt normally include in the other one, as I think not everyone wants to read my drivel on life, but some might. So I guess this a place to let your hair down, enlighten the rest of bloggy world with previous unknown intelligenta, or just show some pretty pictures ! Whatever.

When i grow up..

I want to be happy. Thats it in a nutshell really. The rest is just niceties, you know the fancy car, house, clothes. Tick.  After all the hard work I have come to the conclusion i just could have lived in a shed, a neat one with a clean floor not a humpy :)
My kids are great, although need encouragement to clean up now and then but otherwise are good. My son has aspirations to be a hotshot economist / lawyer, i hope he doesnt get lost in the material world and forget the simple things are what is important. He has a kind soul so maybe he will fight for the less fortunate. My girl is creative and also a kind caring person, she has just finished school and is hoping to do something with media. She is over 6" and so pretty she should be in the media !!
Whatever they end up doing i just hope it makes them happy.

What makes me happy..
My kids of course, usually !
The dog is a gorgeous ball of furry love, leaving her fur all over the floor just how much she loves us :)
Vaccuum cleaner, see above.
Travelling, without stress, the last 2 trips with my husband was not  happy a lot of the time, unnecessarily and a shame, selfish idiot, made me feel like crap most of the trip.
I travelled to Europe with my girl and we had a great time, no stress, just fun.
Chocolate.
Comedy.
A garden to putter around in without it being overwhelming.
Sitting in the shade on a warm summer day with a cool drink, enjoying the view, insert picture looking from Sorrento to Naples :)) i will do it for you ;)

So next year I am going to do more travel with my kids and enjoy the simple things :0
How about you ?

perfect harmony

I am in the process of renovation around our pool as the old concrete was cracking and looking a bit worse for wear, so currently we have piles of mud due to the continual rain since we decided to undertake this work ! Anyway in the process we looked at magazines and websites, and it seems a lot of us are seeking perfection in our lives, which is not always such a great thing, nothing is perfect.  Since the fifties we have been inundated with images of the perfect suburban home all neat and tidy, and the perfect well groomed families smiling! It is so not like this in our real world !
Some of our greatest and intelligent minds have been only occupied with the developments to improve our standard of living,  we would not be here if not for  Jenner and Sir Isaac Newton and Thomas Edison, Howard Florey and Alexander Fleming, I doubt any of them lived in a perfect home.
So why do some of think a perfect home is the most important thing in the world ? Is it because we can control this and provide ourselves with a sense of order and calm ? If everything else is going to pot at least our home can be our sanctuary. I think that must be it.
I really admire how people devote their lives to improving the lives of others. It takes a lot of selflessness to put others first, taking care of the needy and less fortunate.
With that all said, I will be glad to see our surrounds fixed, but I will think carefully before undertaking any other major projects, because at the end of the day it really doesnt matter what your house looks like, its the people inside that count.

Have a great week !

I need the fairy god cleaner upper. My dear husband has stored the last 20 years of crapola in our garage and upstairs bedroom walk in robe and  downstairs closet, the new flooring is getting laid in 2 weeks and the painter will be here in 1 week, and dear husband is away for another 2 weeks.  Dear lord, there is so much junk its ridiculous.

Who keeps old folders of plastic sleeves, not just one, about 20 of them!!! It's doing my head in. If I get this done before he gets back he cant keep it. I will need a trailer to go to the tip, or this
and some chocolate for after. and icecream.
I hate hoarding, hate it with a passion. There are things that I didnt know we had, an old vacuum cleaner still in the box, an aircon unit, ceramic water filter thingys and several old bed heads, single bed bunks, and a multitude of small useless stuff. Sigh. I guess there could be worse things to deal with. Like not having anything, although it would be a lot simpler. Like this man, bless his bare butt!

Anyway a lot of it will be donated and hopefully someone else can make use of the stuff that is still ok.
I'm linking up with Linda from Coastal Charm for Nifty Thrifty Tuesday so see you there!

Coffee without milk is crap

Do you ever wake up and wonder what am I going to do today that's interesting? Yup I thought so. I sat in front of the puter and looked at the blog posts, yup, ok now then...
Looking at fat lazy dog asleep at my feet, hmm should get some exercise, dog opened an eye as if to say what? who you calling fat??  So off we went to find some, wait, let me eat that left over butter chicken in the fridge first, surprisingly there was some in there, she's psychic I just know it.
She will do anything for food, except roll over, there's a limit to the subservient behaviour you know, unlike the two legged versions. Actually they do diddly squat. The girl whined about having to clean up her pit of a room, so that the floor could actually be seen and to stop the confusion of clean and dirty clothes all ending up being washed together because you are too lazy to put them away or in the laundry hamper, again. Rolls eyes and stomps off, slams door which falls off hinge. Again. Oh parenting is such a joy at times. The boy at least  offers to do some chores around the house, but that's just a scam, he takes the money first and then is miraculously busy for the next 10 years. So I come back after slogging it around our hood, and up the hill of hell, put on the coffee machine, and .. %((*((&(&(@@!!! there's no milk.
For *^%& sake how hard is it to notice that as you pour the last of it in your 10th cup of milo.. Arrrgh.
Have a great day and dont forget the milk.

Used by...

Hello and welcome, you all know the person below I'm sure, but did you know...

I recently heard on telly that when Al Capone was a boy at school they used to get milk supplied as did many children in those times, but it was often sour. Much later when he had a lot of money he donated a million dollars for children to receive milk but he insisted the milk had a date to be used by. And so apparently this is how we now have used by dates on all foodstuffs, so I guess that's something positive he did in his life, but its small in comparison to all the rotten stuff he was responsible for.
What do you think?
